GCBAA Releases New Version of the Cost Estimating Guide

LINCOLN, Neb. (March 3, 2021) — For 50 years, the Golf Course Builders Association of America (GCBAA) has been leading the golf course construction industry and providing golf development with the best-built courses around the world. Whether it is new construction or renovation, start your next project on the right track using the GCBAA Cost Estimating Guide.

The Microsoft Excel-based guide features average prices for more than 80-line items associated with golf course construction, along with manual line items for specific project needs. The cost estimating guide features information in seven zone categories, which include 18-hole renovation, 18-hole renovation rototill, USGA greens renovation, tee renovation, bunker renovation, irrigation renovation, new 18-hole construction, and a build-your-own-course manual mode. To ensure cost accuracy, line-item costs are broken down by state, along with additional subareas for more accurate pricing.

“The timing of the updated cost estimating guide could not be better with the association celebrating its 50th Anniversary”, said GCBAA President Judd Duininck. “We are very fortunate to have this project led by Jack Daugherty with Daugherty & Associates, Inc. Working alongside Jack were numerous association volunteers who helped provide the most qualified industry knowledge. Our GCBAA staff provided direction and helped pull together the entire association members to provide an excellent industry tool.”

As part of this project, the association received a grant from the United States Golf Association (USGA).

“We were excited to partner with the USGA and update our cost estimating guide after all these years. We have found the tool to be a great resource for developers, designers, architects, superintendents, appraisers, and builders”, said Justin Apel, Executive Director. “Version 6 of the guide was released in 2011 and has served us well. In updating this estimating guide, we have found specific areas of change, as well as we were able to add a couple of additional categories. We appreciate the support of the membership that helped us forge ahead to create such a fantastic tool for the industry.”

The GCBAA cost estimating guide can be purchased online at gcbaa.org. During checkout, you have the options of a 30-Day Trial Download or Full Version 7 Access Download. With this new online version, you will be contacted and able to download an updated guide as any modifications occur to the estimating tool throughout your subscription.
